Standard Process was founded in 1929 by Dr. Royal Lee. Dr. Lee’s philosophy was simple: “Whole food nutrition begins with the sun, water and fertile soil.” He believed that whole foods should be kept together and not broken up in fractionalized vitamin supplements.

The company’s whole food supplements are produced from foods that are grown in the rich organic soil of the kettle Moraine in Palmyra, Wisconsin. This soil contains a rich supply of trace minerals left over from the last glacial erosion. Farmers in this area are able to water their crops from artesian wells that tap into pure glacial water from 580 feet below the surface. 

Beginning with the first-ever multivitamin, Catalyn, Standard Process has continued to provide health care professionals and their patients with an impressive array of whole food products that are designed to help the body heal itself as nature intended. 

Also unique to many of the Standard Process supplements are what Dr. Lee referred to as protomorphogens. These are nucleoproteins (DNA) that are extracted by a patented process from animal tissue. Support for the use of protomorphogens was first reported in 1993 in the respected scientific journal, Science .
